This department is open to anyone of any age. We hope many of you will catch the vision of homemade literature. Dare to share! ONLY ITEMS REGISTERED ONLINE WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A PREMIUM (MONEY).

Entry Times

Thursday, April 14th from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM or Friday, April 15th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Rules & Guidelines

  1. It is required that every entry be in appropriate taste for family and county fair.
  2. The work you submit must be your own.
  3. Only one entry is allowed for each class.
  4. All entries MUST be registered ONLINE and copies MUST be brought to the Harmony Building for exhibition/judging/premiums. They may be HANDED to LIT ART INPUT from Thursday, April 14 from 8am to 6pm or Friday, April 15 from 9am to 1pm. Parents will be allowed to pick up premium for child.
  5. Submit THREE copies, with the following information on the back of each entry:
  6. Title of entry (Do not include your name, address, or phone number. This is on your online entry form)
    • Class: Poetry or Prose
    • Category: Any subject
    • Age: As of April 9, 2021
    • Grade Level for Youth: Pre-K, 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, or 10-12.
    • Skill Level for Adults: Professional, Semi-Pro, Amateur, or Special Needs
  7. ABSOLUTELY NO FANCY TYPE OR PAPER. 12 point font size, simple, white 8 ½ x 11 paper.
  8. Poetry should be single spaced. 1 page limit.
  9. Prose should be single spaced. 1 page, 300 word limit, but less is great!
  10. All entrants are invited to attend or be represented at the 2022 Literary Arts Program held in the Harmony Building stage on Thursday, April 21st at 3:00PM for adults and Thursday, April 21st at 4:00PM for youth. You will read your work or you may have it read but it must be well rehearsed. Entry must be edited, if necessary, to fit the time limit of 3 minutes. Check in. You state your name, the title of your entry and read it.
    **Your entry will not be judged on oral presentation but prizes will be awarded to all.
  11. Attention Teachers: Register class entrants online. Please PRE-JUDGE with blue, red or white ribbon ratings. Rate TOP 3 in Poetry and Prose. (Fair will provide ribbons. Fair judges will select sweepstakes winners.) Submit entries to fair as per rules 1-8. (Please submit all class entries together with ribbon ratings and top winners listed). Invite entrants to participate in literary arts program to read.
  12. Entries must be picked up on Monday, April 25th between 9:00AM and 5:00PM in the Harmony Building. Items left unclaimed will be taken to the Extension Office to be picked up until April 29th.
  13. Premiums may be redeemed the premium bank during the designated hours. Premiums not redeemed by Monday, April 25, at 5:00pm may be redeemed at the Washington County Treasurer’s
    Office at 197 East Tabernacle, St. George. All premiums must be redeemed by May 30, 2022 or the premium will be forfeited.
  14. All entries must be finished within the past year, April 2021–April 2022.
